Judy Plath is an agricultural scientist based in the Bundaberg region who has worked extensively in agriculture for over 25 years. With a career spanning agricultural research, extension, and hands-on cane farming, Judy brings a practical and well-rounded perspective on research activities for the Australian sugarcane industry.

Judy’s involvement in the sugar industry began when she undertook Masters research with the CRC for Sustainable Sugar Production. After working in the horticulture industry for several years she returned to the sugar industry as an extension officer with the Bureau of Sugar Experiment Stations (BSES) in the Southern region. Her role had a strong focus on water use efficiency and the integration of grain-legumes into a sugarcane farming system. Marrying into a third-generation cane farming family has given Judy hands on exposure to sugarcane and soybean production.

Judy is eager to see research and development that drive real-world outcomes for Australia’s sugar industry.
