| Finding disease hotspots and improving machinery hygiene |
Mill juice sampling will map patterns of ratoon stunting disease across the Burdekin. SRA laboratory services and Wilmar will use the findings to target work with growers and planting and harvesting contractors on machinery hygiene, sharing grouped results to help limit disease spread. |

| Comparing irrigation water use and energy costs |
Planned irrigation demonstrations will record water use, energy use and crop response under different management approaches. SRA, participating growers and project partners will check sensor and harvest records, then share the results so growers can weigh irrigation choices against costs and crop performance. |

| Using local variety results for planting decisions |
SRA and Burdekin Productivity Services plan to share variety strip-trial results through field walks, shed meetings and practical guidance. Advice will cover variety management, approved seed and crop ripeners, helping growers use local evidence when planning their next planting. |

| Testing extractor settings in burnt cane |
Replicated harvester trials are proposed to compare extractor fan speeds in burnt cane under different conditions. SRA, growers, Wilmar and Burdekin Productivity Services will examine field and mill results, then discuss cane losses and costs with participating growers and harvesting contractors. |
