SRA has launched its Strategic Plan for 2026-2031; a five-year plan developed with industry, for industry, to help lift productivity across Australia’s sugar industry. In this short video, SRA Chair Mike Barry outlines the plan’s clear goal: to support the industry to lift productivity by 10% by 2031.
The plan focuses SRA’s investment where it can make the greatest difference, with three key priorities:
1. Developing higher-performing varieties
2. Delivering practical crop protection solutions
3. Accelerating adoption so proven research reaches growers faster.
It also recognises the importance of strong partnerships, practical communications, digital tools, workforce capability, transparent reporting and long-term financial sustainability in achieving lasting productivity gains.
