IMPORTANT information for all cane growers affecting vine control this wet season

Permit 95459 – Expired
Permit 95827Renewed

We have been advised that Permit 95459, allowing emergency use of MCPA products at 750 g/L MCPA for control of vine weeds in sugarcane as an over crop spray via ground-based boom spray, or aerially using fixed wing or rotary equipment, has expired.

Until further notice, MCPA products at 750 g/L MCPA present as dimethylamine salt can only be used as per label, by using directed inter-row spray equipment, below the cane canopy.

APVMA is currently reviewing SRA’s permit renewal application, and we will update all growers if a new permit is granted.

Permit 95827 – Renewed

Conversely, we can announce that Permit 95827 has been renewed until January 2028. This permit allows for 2,4-D products to be applied by helicopter, equipped with Accu-Flo nozzles, with a reduced downwind buffer zones for natural aquatic and vegetation areas of 40 metres.

Always refer to full product labels and permits to understand all conditions of application.

We will provide further updates once they come to hand.
