Online Sugarcane Nutrient Management program

SIX EASY STEPS® goes online

Sugar Research Australia has launched its first eLearning program, free for sugarcane growers: the Online Sugarcane Nutrient Management program.

This first program heralds SRA’s aim to continue to provide relevant science-based online training over time for the sugar industry as resources become available.

Based on the SIX EASY STEPS® workshops, the Online Sugarcane Nutrient Management program was developed for sugarcane growers who want to refresh or up-skill their knowledge of nutrient management for sustainable sugarcane production.

A grower who successfully completes this training program can be considered an Appropriate Person under the definition of the Queensland Government’s Reef protection regulations. He/she will be able to develop and verify their farm’s own nitrogen and phosphorus budget (N&P budget) without needing to seek outside agronomic assistance. This applies on their own farm only.

The online program’s development was funded through the Queensland Government’s Queensland Reef Water Quality Program and SRA.

The program uses an external Learning Management System (LMS) platform called TalentLMS.

You can access the course at any time through the Login to the LMS.

If you start the program but cannot finish it in one go, then you can logoff and return to it at a convenient time. You will not lose any of the progress you have made or the data you have input.

You will need to create an account by entering your first and last name and email. You will be asked to create a username (which can be your email) and a password. (If you forget your password at a future date, there are instructions on the LMS login page to reset it.) You will receive a welcome email from SRA to confirm your account has been set up. (Please check your junk folder if it doesn’t appear to have arrived.)

If you have any questions, please email elearning@sugarresearch.com.au.

The online learning environment currently only features the Online Sugarcane Nutrient Management program.

However, more online training programs are planned for release soon.

Eventually the aim is for the platform to enable the user to locate a catalogue of workshops and training programs, learning materials and resources as developed by SRA and our partners in a digital training format for online training throughout the industry.
