Kevin Powell is an entomologist based in Meringa. Kevin’s primary focus is working on improving management strategies for economically important insect pests, both existing endemic and potential exotic threats, relevant to the Australian sugarcane industry. Prior to joining SRA, Kevin worked for Agriculture Victoria where his research focus was developing early detection systems and disinfestation protocols for biosecurity pests and screening for host -plant resistance. He has international experience in the Europe, Middle East, Asia and PNG. He specialises in root-feeding and sap-sucking insect pests of multiple crops.
