Dr George Piperidis has over 25 years’ experience working in the sugarcane industry. He leads the variety development program for the Central region and oversees the sugar quality testing program for all new varieties released in Australia.

He has significant background experience in germplasm improvement and development through introgression of wild species, and variety exchanges with overseas breeding programs. He has also been responsible for Plant Breeder’s Rights protection of all new varieties released.
