ABOUT THE ROLE
Agronomic Research Technician – Gordonvale
Make a valuable contribution to improve the Australian sugarcane industry.
• Fixed term Technical Field Work role
• Suitable for those with Agriculture/Environmental Science background
• Gordonvale location (Cairns region)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establish experimental treatments with varying agronomic management practices in sugarcane farming systems trials.
• Conduct soil and plant sampling in accordance with trial protocols.
• Collect, organise and format trial data in a clear and accurate manner in accordance with project requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of all trial activities as per project requirements.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of project intellectual property and all commercially sensitive information (essential).
• Maintain scientific and agricultural equipment.
YOUR REQUIREMENTS
You will bring with you the following qualifications, capabilities and experience:
• Experience and capability to work outdoors in challenging conditions (hot and humid).
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Ability to travel regularly to other SRA locations.
• A degree or diploma in agriculture, agronomy, or horticulture is desirable but not essential.
• Sugarcane industry experience or other cropping experience.
• Practical experience in operation and maintenance of agricultural implements and scientific equipment.
