Application workshops are underway as canegrub pressures increase

SRA is responding to growers’ reports of high canegrub pressures in several districts with dedicated workshops to support application of liquid formulations of imidacloprid in several areas.

FNQ growers attended application of liquid imidacloprid workshops in the Tableland and Meringa on 3 June.

“With the removal of the granulated imidacloprid product from the market, it was a timely refresher for liquid application techniques,” Far North Queensland District Manager Gavin Rodman said.

SRA’s Weed Scientist Emilie Fillols demonstrated application methods that can improve the use of liquid imidacloprid for greyback canegrub control.

The next application workshop is planned for the Burdekin on 19 June 2025.

NB: It is necessary to check the label of each of the available liquid imidacloprid products, as there is a range of registered application windows and crop stages, dependant on product or brand.
